High Scores Arcade: Alameda

Hey, people!

I haven't done a post in a while, but I am here to tell you about this nice place called High Scores Arcade. This place is an ARCADE MUSEUM!!! (you have to say this in a loud booming voice). It's located on Coruscant- I mean in Alameda, right by a mini golf course and a vintage game store, if you're interested. The place is $5 for 1 hour, and $10 for the entire day. What a steal! At the arcade, there are a lot of those machines with a bunch of games. I think that this is a good way to provide variety with your games, instead of just Atari Star Wars, Frogger, and Joust. Those games are awesome though

Mother and I played completely different games. We played absolutely nothing with each other, except MORTAL KOMBAT!!! (starts singing theme song) Ahem. We also played Double Dragon together (We sucked, Just being honest, Mom!). I decided to torture myself by playing the arcade version of  Battletoads. It was hard, but I kind of expected that. I lost to Sagat in the original 1987 Street Fighter (yes, I got to the end. Geki was the hardest, and a Hadouken is impossible to pull off without being killed by the hyper intelligent A.I. We then played Final Fight. We did significantly better. I played as Guy (Wow, what a creative name). Mom introduced me to Tempest. I didn't get it. I really didn't get the concept, and I've played dozens of Atari games (I've noticed that a lot of them have to do with space).

Overall, this is definitely worth your time if you have an off day, or if you just feel nostalgic at that very hour.

Awesome!! So, do you just pay a cover charge and get unlimited games? I would really like to go. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't live in the area but would love a place like this in my neck off the woods. Keep up the good work.

This is a great review! I live in NYC so the only real gaming place I can go to is Dave and Busters (and it is really expensive). Ten dollars for the whole day sounds like a bargain! I wish we had one on the east coast. Can't wait for your next post!

What a great place to spend a day! I appreciate you getting the word out. Maybe you can teach me to actually beat a game! I haven't since the first Nintendo. LOL

Atari Star Wars & Final Fight sound like two games I would play a LOT of again! Did they have anything like Gauntlet or the other 4 player games that came out in the late 80s early 90s?

Not bad, for a special black gamer from another city, as I came to visit.
