Dear Parents,
Video games are actually less of a waste of time than you think. Video games improve a kid's imagination and increases their social skills.
Video Gaming improves social skills, especially in (safe) online gaming. It's like online dating in a way. You get to meet new people through text or a microphone. Gaming also improves social status. What I mean is it gives all kids something to talk about. For example, you can ask people about different games because kids usually have at least gaming in common. At my school, a group of us created a group of young American gamers. Called the "Nation of Gamers, " we have meetings and we talk about everything vintage video games. you know: Atari, Gamecube, Gameboys... stuff like that.
Games also increase imagination. What I mean is that kids are left to uncover the potential of the game's characters. They even might want to create their own sequel to the franchise or their own game.
Based on what I said before, maybe you will reconsider thinking that video games are a waste of time and brain cells. So much can happen from picking up any gaming system and playing a game.
Thanks for listening,
